Certified Criminal Record Check

A certified criminal record check is conducted by submitting the applicant’s fingerprints. This type of record check could be required for certain employment jobs, applying for a record suspension (pardon), immigration, or travelling abroad.

The standard criminal record check is typically a name-based search, where the name of the applicant and the date of birth is used in searching the CPIC systems and other local criminal records databases. The search could easily match someone else’s records, and therefore, a certified check may be conducted to get the definitive identity.
